Biography

Dr. Umar Khalifa Mohammed, mni, FCAI, MNIM is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience spanning telecommunications, energy, education, and public administration. He currently serves as a member of the Governing Board of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), contributing his expertise to Nigeria’s insurance regulatory framework .

Dr. Mohammed’s academic journey began at the Nigerian Air Force Primary School in Kano State, followed by secondary education in Lagos and Kaduna. He pursued A-Levels at Princethorpe College in Coventry, UK, and earned a Higher National Diploma in Computing from Plymouth University. He further obtained a BSc in Information Technology and an MSc in International Management from the University of the West of England, Bristol. In 2021, he completed a PhD in International Studies (History) from the Nigerian Defence Academy .

Professionally, Dr. Mohammed has held significant roles, including Head of Service Delivery and Project Management at Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), and Managing Director/CEO of Gano Group of Companies. He also served as Director of Central Services and Senior Special Assistant to the Pro-Chancellor at Baze University, Abuja .

A graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Dr. Mohammed was conferred with the title of Member of the National Institute (mni) after completing the Senior Executive Course 44 in 2022, where he served as Secretary-General. His contributions to national development are further underscored by his fellowships and memberships in professional bodies such as the Institute of Corporate Administration and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
